Hacktivity was launched in 2003 by a team of IT security professionals with the goal of providing a forum and opportunity for like-minded professionals to exchange experiences and expand network. The largest cybersecurity conference in Central and Eastern Europe has grown out of this initiative, boasting higher quality programs and a growing international audience year after year. In its 17 years of existence, Hacktivity has become a brand in the region, bringing visitors from more than 20 countries on a regular basis in addition to Hungarian participants, to gain such deep professional knowledge and build relationships that they would not have the opportunity to do at other events.
The weight of the conference is well illustrated by the fact that it has recently enjoyed the sponsorship of such renowned companies like MOL Group, Deloitte, Morgan Stanley, PwC, KPMG, Cisco, IT Services Hungary, LogMeIn, the National Cyber Defense Institute or NISZ. In addition to networking, these sponsors also saw an excellent recruitment opportunity at Hacktivity and based on the feedback, they are all satisfied and many are returning partners of the event.
Main sponsors of Hacktivity in the last couple of years:
In addition to the traditional presentations at the conferences and the programs of the exhibitors and sponsors, Hacktivity regularly holds 2-hour, comprehensive workshops on various cybersecurity topics. These fast-paced sessions have been attended by about 10-12 thousand participants since the beginning.
For those who would not be satisfied with the shorter trainings available at the conferences, the organizers have been arranging intensive, multi-day specialized training sessions right before Hacktivity for 3 years now, where renowned Hungarian and foreign instructors pass on their knowledge. More than 50 students have participated in these cost-effective, small group sessions over the past 3 years.
In addition to the organization of conferences and trainings, Hacktivity also deals with specific, in-depth training for IT professionals. Recently, employees of one of the world’s leading companies have completed a 2 months on-site Malware Analysis training providing by Hacktivity, with great satisfaction.
In addition to the Hacktivity Conference in October, the organizers have been holding BSides Budapest conferences every spring for 3 years, with the aim of communicating the latest trends in IT security to those who are new in the field or can’t afford more expensive conferences. BSidesBUD has been a success story since 2017, as for the very first time it has become the fourth largest BSides event in the world, and its popularity and recognition are growing year by year.
